1. This painting (left)
was a study that Liz did based on another painting (below).
Herb Reagan: "At the time of Elizabeths death in March,, 1995,
this painting was in the possession of her son, Robert Field. At the funeral service, at
which I was asked to speak, I mentioned to Robert that I didnt have a painting of
hers. Since he had a number of them, he presented this one to me. We had only a name for
the artist who did the original. When I got back to Seattle I went to the library to look
for help and the came up with a book of his paintings. The above original was
in that book and probably the one that was used for the class. Ive enjoyed having
the picture wherever Ive live since, but its time to pass it on for someone
else to enjoy. Ive given it to a young lady who has been visiting her mother here at
the retirement home on a number of occasions. Her name is Nancy K Salo and she is a ballet
dance instructor and performer from New York City. I hope that when the time comes, she
will pass it on as I have."
This is the original
painting by Lord Frederic Leighton, called "May Satoris". The oil
painting - 60" by 36" and was painted around 1860. The title subject
was Mrs. Evan Gordon (married name). Prov. by family descent to Mrs. M. Turner, New
House Gallaries in New York City; Kimbell bequest in 1964 to the Kimbell Art Museum, Fort
Worth, Texas.
